Formula 1's Brazilian Grand Prix has earned a five-year extension, keeping it on the calendar until at least the mid-2030s.

Brazil's previous contract was set to expire in 2030, but on the Saturday of the 2026 weekend, a new five-year extension was announced by F1.

Interlagos made its F1 debut on the calendar in 1973 and has hosted the Brazil F1 race exclusively since 1990.

F1 claims there's a fanbase in Brazil of "5.8 million, a 6.5% year-on-year increase from 2024 to 2025 - 44% of whom are female and 41% of whom are under 35".

Last year's weekend attendance was recorded as 303,627.

“Brazil is an important part of Formula 1’s history and our future, and I am delighted that this five-year extension will see us continue racing in Sao Paulo until 2035," president and CEO of Formula 1 Stefano Domenicali said.

"The passion of our Brazilian fans is extraordinary, and every time we return to Interlagos we feel their energy in the grandstands and in the city of Sao Paulo."

The CEO of the grand prix, Alan Adler, called the extension a "source of immense pride", and said it "represents recognition of work built on dedication, investment and a long-term vision".
